Greg Shenkman’s Take on Airlines

It’s funny how almost everything you buy has a money back guarantee or replacement for a defective product, except the Airline Industry. It seems that the airlines aren’t held to the same standards of delivering quality products, like every other business. I recently took a trip to Mexico and our plane was delayed about two hours, which they had said over the loud speaker “due to inclement weather”. On all airlines, if a plane is delayed because of weather, the are not liable for the delay. At the time, I hadn’t even heard of any storms in the path of the plane, but didn’t think to much about it. I later overheard an airline worker saying to her co-worker that the plane that was late because of maintenance. It was clear that everyone that was going to be on this flight was going to miss their connection and be forced to stay over until the next morning and the airline was lying about it being the weather so they didn’t have to pay for accommodations for all the passengers. I think it’s a joke what the airlines are allowed to get away with.
